Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain Chapter: Empowering Township Entrepreneurs
Did you know that the Cape Chamber also has a presence within the Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain areas? These two dynamic townships nestled on the Cape Flats in the Western Cape, are renowned for their vibrant communities and cultural richness.
Khayelitsha stands as one of South Africa's largest and fastest-growing townships, while Mitchells Plain is a sprawling residential area that encompasses multiple smaller suburbs. These communities are the beating heart of the Cape Flats, and their potential for economic growth and development is boundless.
Recognizing the immense potential and significance of the Township Economy, the Cape Chamber took a bold step forward by establishing the Khaya-Plain Chapter. This dedicated Chapter is on a mission to bridge the economic gap and create a world of opportunities for the industrious residents of these vibrant townships.
Under the capable leadership of Natasha Wagiet, supported by Ntobeko Boyana as the Deputy Chair, the Khaya-Plain Chapter is committed to addressing the unique challenges faced by township entrepreneurs.
These challenges include access to quality business development support, markets, facilities to trade, and finance. To overcome these challenges the Chapter embraces an ecosystem approach.
This strategy empowers Chapter Members to forge partnerships with various ecosystem stakeholders, all united in their mission to uplift the livelihoods of Small, Medium, and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) in historically disadvantaged communities.

Recent Chapter achievements include organizing a successful business extortion workshop, bringing together representatives from the City of Cape Town, the Western Cape Province, and local businesses to address concerns related to business extortion in the area.
The Chapter extends a warm welcome to all who share a passion for making a positive impact and aspire to contribute to the growth and development of Khayelitsha and Mitchell's Plain.
