Keeping car licence fee increases down to 3% for the WC is a significant achievement

Keeping car licence fee increases down to 3% for the Western Cape is a significant achievement for the provincial government. It is also a pleasant surprise for the public who have been left punch drunk from a series of above inflation increases in administered prices over the last few years. Many of us thought 3% increases were an extinct species. It will also help the Cape to deal with the problem of motorists and truck owners licensing their vehicles in other provinces where licence fees are artificially low to “poach” business from the Western Cape. It is happening in an election year, but it is still a welcome indication that costs are under control in the province.Janine MyburghPresident of the Cape Chamber
