Long-standing Chamber member I.B. McIntyre marks 60 years with executive leadership transition

Cape Town-based hardware distributor I.B. McIntyre & Co. (Pty) Ltd, a long-standing member of the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has marked its 60-year business milestone with a major leadership transition and two brand acquisitions.

Founded on 1 July 1966 by Ian McIntyre, the company announced that long-serving Managing Director Dennis Pullinger has stepped into the role of Chairman. Industry executive Harsh Vardhan has been appointed as the company's new Chief Executive Officer.

"Six decades, of which 58 years has been under my stewardship and thousands of relationships later, we find ourselves marking a milestone that few businesses reach," said Pullinger in a stakeholder notification. "This change has been made from a position of strength, built purely for the continued benefit and growth of the business."

Alongside the executive restructure, the Maitland-headquartered distributor confirmed the acquisition of two new commercial brands, EuroBrass Brassware and Calini Stainless Steel, to expand its national product line.

Vardhan joins the executive team to lead the company's next expansion phase, supported by the existing management group.

"Harsh brings a wealth of industry experience, an extensive network of valued relationships, and a proven track record of leadership," Pullinger stated. "While we look forward to this exciting new chapter, the people, values, and commitment to excellence that you know and trust remain unchanged."

The hardware and DIY supplier operates its main head office and warehouse in Maitland, Western Cape, alongside regional distribution facilities and offices in Johannesburg.
