Comment on the City’s draft Energy Strategy

The City of Cape Town has drafted an energy strategy for the City titled ‘Our Shared Energy Future: The 2050 Energy Strategy for the City of Cape Town’, and would like your input.

Business-as-usual in the energy sector is no longer viable, especially with the energy crisis that South Africa is currently facing. The City of Cape Town recognises this, and wishes to enable and support the development of a resilient energy system, which is critical to the health and well-being of city residents, and the functioning of the economy. 

The City's aim is to achieve energy security for Cape Town by ending load shedding over time and navigating the changing energy system to the benefit of all.
