Businesses and commuters in Parow Industria to expect temporary roadworks

The City of Cape Town’s Road Infrastructure Management Department commenced with the resurfacing of roads in Parow Industria today, 31 July 2023. Work is expected to be complete by the end of mid-September 2023, weather permitting.

The roadworks will take place from Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 17:00. Where required, sections of the road works may be scheduled for night work between 19:00 and 06:00.

The following roads will be resurfaced in Parow Industria:
• Junction Street between Radnor Street and Stoker Street
• Radnor Street between Robert Sobukwe Road and Junction Street

Both affected roads will either be closed in half widths or full widths between 07:30 to 17:00 and between 19:00 and 06:00 where night work is required. Roads will be opened to traffic outside of these hours.

The following work will be done and may require evening or weekend work where necessary:

• Manholes and catchpits will be raised where required, to make them flush with the road
• Replacement of damaged manholes, catchpits where required
• Road pavement and surfacing maintenance
• All existing road marking shall be referenced and reinstated with road marking paint

‘We would like to advise the public and business entities of roadworks along Junction Street and Radnor Street in Parow Industria over the next few weeks.

"Our Roads Infrastructure Management team in the Bellville district will be very busy resurfacing these roads, residents can therefore expect a level of noise pollution during this time. We ask that road users please remain patient with our teams as they try to complete the job as efficiently as possible.

"This is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain Cape Town’s vast road network which is one of our biggest assets,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Commuters are advised to be cautious and to slow down when approaching the areas where work is underway.
