Expropriation without Compensation – whose land is it anyway?
The land issue will be the subject of the next Rumble in the Urban Jungle on the evening of the 6th November at the Cape Sun.
The two prize fighters in the “heavydebate championship of South Africa” will be Comrade Andile Mngxitama, the fearless leader of Black First Land First and Dawie Roodt, the brave acclaimed chief economist of the Efficient Group.
The bout takes place over two rounds whilst enjoying a fine dining experience at the Cape Sun. It will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
The land issue and expropriation without compensation has been at the centre of public debate for nearly a year. Most of the discussion has been at a fairly academic level and the Chamber feels that it is time to get down to basics and look at the facts as well as the emotions.
Although the evening will follow a measure of decorum (anyone showing abusive or aggressive behaviour will be ejected by security), some of the debate could be rather raw – not for the squeamish or politically correct – we expect the facts of expropriation to be laid bare.
Registration is at 18.30 and dinner will be served at seven prior to the debate.
The previous Rumbles hosted by the Cape Chamber have been Julius Malema versus Clem Sunter and Pravin Gordhan versus Justice Malala. Both Rumbles were sold out.
