The Economic and Finance Portfolio Committee will be hosting an engagement with Mr Tshediso  Matona – Head Secretariat at the National Planning Commission within the National Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.

The National Planning Commission was established in May 2010 to develop a long term vision and strategic plan for South Africa.The main objective of the Commission is to rally the nation around a common set of objectives and priorities to drive development over the longer term.

With the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this year a number of commitments were made to the country including improving governance, the economy and fighting corruption.

The purpose of the engagement, is to gain more insight into the NDP under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa, and to:

  • Discuss the status of the NDP in 2018 / 2019;
  • Identify the key priorities of Government;
  • Identify the key economic indicators;
  • The role of business; and
  • The way forward for South Africa, etc
