METRORAIL: Addressing Business Concerns and the Way Forward

METRORAIL: Addressing Business Concerns and the Way Forward
  • 14th September 2017
    10:00 - 12:00

The Cape Chamber has received numerous complaints over several months regarding the state of the current passenger rail service in the province, which impacts on employee safety, productivity and business operations. We have invited Mr Richard Walker, Regional Manager of Metrorail Western Cape, to discuss what is being done regarding the state of the passenger rail service – which forms the backbone of transport in the province.

The objective of this meeting is to create a dialogue between Metrorail and Business in order to address concerns relating to train cancellations, delays, vandalism, security and poor notifications. Also to be covered is the infrastructure and rolling stock status, the duration of the crisis, new developments envisaged and what measures are being implemented to minimise the impact of the crisis. Commuters are also now electing to use alternative road-based transport, leading to further congestion on our roads.

We welcome your attendance and engagement at the meeting.

This event is brought to you by the Cape Chamber’s Transport and Transport Infrastructure Portfolio Committee.
