Encouraging Labour Absorption Growth – Making South Africa more labour intensive
  • 26th September 2019
    11:00 - 12:30

The Chamber’s Human Resources Portfolio Committee invites you to attend an engagement with Professor Haroon Bhorat, Professor of Economics and Director of the Development Policy Research Unit at the University of Cape Town.

Labour-intensity varies widely across sectors of the South African economy. This implies that sectoral structure needs to be explicitly taken into account in the promotion of higher labour-intensity.

The meeting will focus on:

  • South Africa’s job challenge.
  • Economic growth and structural transformation.
  • South Africa’s labour force.

Professor Bhorat’s presentation will provide insight into factors from the past and present that may have contributed to limiting South Africa’s ability to become more labour intensive.

We welcome your attendance and engagement at the meeting.
